The Events and Brokers module centralizes the management and monitoring of event-driven integrations across all connected brokers in your ecosystem. It provides full visibility into event types, broker instances, and API connections, ensuring efficient event handling and operational governance.

Overview

  • Purpose: Serve as a single pane of glass for managing all event brokers and their associated APIs

  • Capabilities: Monitor broker instances, synchronize APIs, manage configurations, and track usage limits

  • Target Users: API administrators, event platform managers, and integration engineers

Manage Events Brokers

The Manage Events Brokers interface provides the essential tools to monitor and maintain your event-driven infrastructure.

Key Features

  • Dashboard Metrics

  • APIs Left: The number of API connections remaining within your total quota (e.g., 55/1000)

  • Gateway Left: The number of remaining broker gateway slots available (e.g., 942/1000)

  • Add New Instance Connect and configure new event broker instances to enable event-driven integrations

  • Supported Brokers: Apache Kafka, Solace PubSub+

  • Existing Instances View and manage all configured broker instances in a clear, actionable table

  • Instance Information: Name, status, and last updated timestamp

  • Available Actions:

  • Sync API: Synchronize APIs from the broker

  • Edit: Modify broker configuration

  • Delete: Remove the instance

  • Filters and Search

  • Filter by Business Domain: Narrow instances by assigned business domain

  • Search: Find specific broker instances by name or identifier

Add Events Instance

The Add Events Instance feature allows you to register and configure new event brokers within Helix.

Overview

  • Purpose: Connect and configure new event broker instances

  • Supported Brokers: Apache Kafka, Solace PubSub+

  • Target Users: Integration engineers, API administrators, event platform managers

Configuration Workflow

  1. Select Events Choose broker type from supported options (e.g., APACHE_KAFKA)

  2. Select Business Area Assign to relevant business area (default: Default Business Area)

  3. Configure Events

  4. Connection Details

  5. Connection Type (e.g., SASL_PLAINTEXT)

  6. Name for broker instance

  7. Broker server address

  8. SASL mechanism (if applicable)

  9. Username/password for authentication

  10. Default Import API Visibilities Set default visibility for imported APIs (Internal, External, etc.)

  11. Region and Country

  12. Geographical region (e.g., Southern Asia)

  13. Deployment country (e.g., India)

Manage Events

The Manage Events feature provides a centralized interface to discover, organize, and manage all event-driven assets.

Overview

  • Purpose: Single source of truth for all event-driven assets

  • Capabilities: Search, filter, and organize event topics

  • Target Users: API administrators, integration engineers, developers

Key Features

  • Event Discovery

  • Search Bar: Find event topics by name or keyword

  • Filters: Narrow by visibility type (All, Internal, External, DAC Admin, Public)

  • Event Listing View all discovered event topics in structured list

  • Topic name/identifier

  • Description (if available)

  • Tags for categorization

  • Pagination

  • Items Per Page: Select display count

  • Page Navigation: Navigate through results

Filters

Use the Filters panel to refine event topic displays and save combinations for future use.

Filter Options

  • Select Business Area: Choose one or more business areas

  • Select Visibilities: Filter by access level

  • NONE

  • INTERNAL

  • EXTERNAL

  • DAC ADMIN

  • PUBLIC

Filter Management

  • Reset: Clear all selected options

  • Save Filters: Save combination as named filter group
